Decades in the Making

The Elizabeth Commercial Association started putting on amateur rodeos at Casey Jones Park in 1937 but the rodeo events were few and far between.  The first official amateur rodeo was put on by the Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce on July 5, 1952, but was soon discontinued due to financial reasons.  The first annual Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo was held at the end of May 1966.  As a PRCA sanctioned rodeo since 1988, the Elizabeth Stampede has established itself as one of the best regional rodeos with the Mountain States Circuit. Our circuit includes 71 rodeos in Colorado and Wyoming.
