Welcome Contestants, we want to make the challenge of competition as enjoyable as possible. You will be competing to represent the Elizabeth Stampede PRCA Rodeo, voted the #1 small rodeo of the year 8 years. In order to show our appreciation for the efforts of our royalty and to ensure we continue to get quality contestants, the Elizabeth Stampede will be offering a $500.00 scholarship to the 2012 Elizabeth Stampede Queen.
We are very excited to have you participate in the competition and wish you the best of luck! Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm for the sport of Rodeo.

APPLICATION & LIABILITY WAIVER DEADLINE FOR 2012/2013 COMPETITION IS: TBD.
No applications will be accepted after this date.
COMPETITION DATE: TBD, 2012- 8:30am - 4:00pm
Once we receive your application, you will receive notification via email or mail that your application has been received. In the packet you will receive the speech topic and the current schedule of events for the competition. So the sooner you get you application in, the longer you have to work on your speech.
LOCATION: Elbert County Fairgrounds
Contestants will be judged on Horsemanship, Speech, Interview Skills, and Fashion.
HORSEMANSHIP REQUIREMENTS:
***Parents may attend***
Attire: Colored Wrangler Jeans, Long Sleeved shirt/blouse, Western boots, Felt Hat w/ hair pulled back.
Performance: The ladies will be given 20 minutes to saddle their horses and warm up. You will then exit the arena. Each girl will receive a pre-defined pattern as they enter the arena. They will perform the pattern, where they end in the middle of the arena facing the Judges. They will await the judge's nod prior to riding to their location. Once in front of the judges, they will dismount, and participate in a Horsemanship interview.
Once interview is complete, they will mount and ride to the South end of the Arena. They will receive 2 steers to demonstrate their cattle skills. A steer will be released from the Roping chutes and the ladies will have to put the steer in a pen at the end of the arena. Once complete, will ride to the end of arena where they will be given the Elizabeth Stampede Flag for a single lap flag run. Once all the ladies are done, then they will be introduced for a final queens run.
Interview: Each contestant will be asked several horsemanship questions by the judges.
What you are judged on: Contestants will be judged on their riding ability, managing their horse in the arena with and without cattle and their horse knowledge.
PERSONAL INTERVIEW REQUIREMENTS:
Attire: Western Dress or Suit, Felt Hat, Western Boots
Performance: Each Contestant will participate in a judge's interview panel where they will be asked questions about current events, rodeo, fashion and the Elizabeth Stampede.
What you are judged on: How you answer the questions, content of your answers and how you handle the pressure of an interview panel.
SPEECH REQUIREMENTS:
***Parents may attend***
Attire: Western Dress or Suit, Felt Hat, Western Boots
Performance: Each Contestant will have 2-3 minutes to deliver their speech to the judge's panel.
What you are judged on: Content and delivery of speech; stage presence.
CASUAL FASHION SHOW REQUIREMENTS:
***Parents and public may attend***
Attire: Casual Outfit of your choice that best represents your personality; Hat and Western Boots.
Performance: Each Contestant will show off their outfit in a stage walk. You will also be asked a rodeo impromptu question.
What you are judged on: Outfit decision, Stage Presence, poise and how you handle the impromptu questions.
FORMAL FASHION SHOW REQUIREMENTS:
***Parents and public may attend***
Attire: Western Formal Outfit of your choice that best represents your personality; Felt Hat and Western Boots
Performance: Each Contestant will show off their outfit in a stage walk. You will also be asked a personal impromptu question.
What you are judged on: Outfit decision, Stage Presence, poise and how you handle the impromptu questions.
